Book design and illustration for Stop Think Go Do by Steven Heller & Mirko Ilic. Stop Think Go Do is a visually driven exploration of how words influence behavior, with typography playing a central role in delivering powerful messages. The book showcases work from a diverse group of global graphic designers, type designers, illustrators, and visual artists. Across eight thematic chapters, Stop Think Go Do examines how design elements—type, color, form, and composition—intentionally shape both conscious and subconscious responses.

The typographic illustrations created for the chapter openers inspired additional design solutions for two more of Heller’s books: Teaching Graphic Design History and Design School Reader.

While designing the visual identity for This is What Happens When Women Read, we drew visual inspiration from this book—particularly the bold, direct style of Barbara Kruger’s work, which sparked key ideas for the project.
